IELTS Exam writing syllabus
The writing section is the first part of the IELTS study. Contains short essays or reports that are sent to a well-educated audience. The writing section has two functions. Second, students must prepare an essay in their own words based on an opinion, idea or argument.
- IELTS Academic Writing: The subjects under this type of IELTS exam are based on general interest and are for students applying for postgraduate or undergraduate degree. The first task will include a diagram, data, or graphical representation that students must analyze and interpret in their own words. Second, students must draft a 250-word essay based on the recorded data and come up with a correct point of view or argument with relevant examples. The writing method of the description and essay must be formal and prepared.
- IELTS General Training Writing: The General Writing module has two functions, but the level will be easier than the Academic module. A position will be provided and based on that; a letter must be written by the students. This letter should be formal or semi-formal based on the nature of the situation. Students must explain, argue, or ask for specific authority. Based on the view of the first letter, the next action will be an essay. The quality of this essay can be semi-formal or formal.
IELTS Exam Reading syllabus
The IELTS reading module will consist of three questions based on a common interest and aimed at undergraduate and postgraduate students. There will be a total of 40 questions including short questions, multiple choice questions, matching phrases, and data lists. The IELTS reading study has a different pattern for academic and general training models.
- IELTS Academic reading: There will be three long paragraphs in the academic reading section. They will be analytical, descriptive, and fact-based. - IELTS General Training Reading: The format of the general training reading test shall be identical to that of the academic module. The IELTS audio section is the same for both modules – Academic and General Training exams. There will be four questions in total. Students can only hear the four conversations once. Based on these conversations, a number of questions will be asked such as note completion, multiple choices and sentence completion.
- Conversations 1 and 2 will be based on community and customary circumstances. Below this, the first conversation between two people takes place in a common situation and situation. The latter will also be a monologue based on common everyday situations.

- Part 1 – Introduction: This part focuses on the candidates’ self-introduction. Students need to talk about themselves, their background, hobbies and educational credentials and achievements. The focus should be on tone, structure, sentence construction and word usage.
- Part 2 – Long-term: Here the candidate is given a topic. Candidates will have about two minutes to write down and discuss everything related to the relevant topic. Following the candidates’ talk, there will be a short round of questions and answers.
- Part 3 – This is a long discussion and the questions are deep, relevant and abstract. The discussion will be based on real issues and topics.
